The British cycle racing season typically closes with some hill climbs. In the past Ards CC ran events on Carrowreagh Road, Church Road and Bradshaw’s Brae, and had a number of hill climb specialists amongst its members. Today, only Bradshaw’s Brae remains, but there was a healthy turnout this evening for the final event of the club race calendar.
It was a perfect evening for hill climbing, with a warm sun and a gentle tail wind on the Brae. Fastest was Mark Kane, who broke the 4 minute barrier with 3:51 – an excellent time for this course. First Ards man was our current hill climbing specialist Gareth Muray who missed the 4 minute barrier by just 2 seconds.
