Willy McMullan was first Ards man in last night’s club road race and takes the lead in the Road Race trophy. But with two races still to go, and only a rider’s best 4 results to count, there are still several other riders in contention. Check the results and current standings here.
As the season progresses, riders gain fitness, and the handicappers decided to split the race into just two groups. Scratch once again worked well together, catching the front group, and Mark Kane (Northern) had enough energy left to snatch the win from Shane Farren (North Down CC). Willy was next home, with William Gill, Mark Watson, Ian Carson, Gareth Murray and Martin Drennan picking up the other points in the trophy competition.
Willy McMullan also wins the Ballyhalbert Cup for first Ards rider in this race.
