Ten teams of two riders faced the time keepers in windy Millisle this evening for a 2-up 10 mile time trial (which replaced the planned 10k 2-up on the Portaferry Road that had to be changed due to roadworks). With a strong northerly wind, most teams were at least 2 minutes slower on the return leg from the turn in Ballywalter. Robin Millar and Niall Brown were the only team to beat 25mph, with a strong 23:02. Andrew Jess and Mark Watson were second, just over one minute behind.
It was great to see six women competing tonight, beating this season’s previous record of five at the 10k in April. Fastest once against was Gillian Orr, who rode with husband William to take 5th overall. Junior rider Rachel White also rode well with Gareth Boyle to finish less than a minute behind the Orrs.
Thanks as always to the marshals, pushers off and time keepers (who can be seen validating the times below, surrounded by riders and supporters).
