Despite a late change of venue, 28 riders signed on for tonight’s club road race at Carrowdore in sunny but cool conditions. The A4s were given a 2 minute start on the A3 group, with a further 3 minutes to a very strong looking group of A1/A2.
The A1/A2 group quickly got down to work, and had made it through to the front of the race by the third of 5 laps. They kept the pressure on, and a select group of 4 eventually fought it out for the win. First was Dave Watson, followed by Chris Richardson and Keith Philips (all Bikehouse). Ricky Topping came fourth, and took maximum points in the Ards CC road race trophy. He now takes a small lead in this competition. The winner’s time was 58:50 – very fast for the 27.5 mile race.

Please note a couple of changes to the club calendar –
- The club road race on 11th June will now be at Orlock, instead of Carrowdore (assuming the road works are finished by then)
- The 10k time trial that had to be cancelled on 30th April will now take place on 9th July.
