As the wind and rain of Storm Francis eased the chief marshal made a late call to go ahead with tonight’s 5 mile time trial on the Donaghadee Road. Eleven hardy souls faced the time keeper, and although there was still a strong cross wind it turned out to be quite a fast night. Quickest was Luke Joyce (Bikehouse) with 10:59, followed by fastest Ards rider Conor Hanna on 11:24.

Fortunately everyone was safely finished by 7.30pm, as the light was fading quickly and the dry window was closing again.. Next Tuesday is the final evening club race of the year – the Bradshaw’s Brae hillclimb. Meet at the Kiltonga duck pond car park, and note the earlier start time of 6.30pm.
There is also a club run listed in the club calendar for the second weekend in September. This is still under review, and will depend on the evolving government and Cycling Ulster guidelines among other things. We’ll have more details soon.
