Ards Cycling Club are delighted to be hosting a Sustrans Active Travel training session for 8 to 11 year olds as part of their Town Centre Races on Wednesday 21 June. Read on for more details.
Sustrans Training Session for 8 to 11 year olds – Information for parents / carers
- As part of the Ards Cycling Club Town Centre Races event on Wednesday 21 June 2023 Sustrans are offering a single Level 1 skills training session between 6pm and 8pm, in a traffic free area, aimed at children between 8 and 11 years old (minimum age of 8).
- The training is for children who can already cycle but want to improve skills. Sustrans will issue certificates on completion of the course.
- Class size for a session is limited to 16.
- Children are to bring their own bikes to the session and should also bring a drink with them.
- The session will include an M-check, how to fit a helmet as well as cycle skills, including starting and stopping a journey, braking, gears, emergency stops, balance and control, looking and making hand signals.
- Parents/carers will need to complete a Sustrans Cycle Training Consent Form – ACC Criterium 21 June 2023[3597] in advance of the training session. Sign on for the session can be completed in the Ards Art Centre (Old Town Hall, Conway Square, Newtownards) from 5.15pm. Registration must be completed before the start of the cycle training session which begins at 6pm.
