Last night’s Magreechan Cup was held over three and a half laps of a new course between Glastry and Kirkistown. Conditions were good despite some light rain towards the end, and riders generally praised the smooth, quiet roads. It was great to have Bobby Magreechan down at the start to encourage the competitors.
Fastest on the night was Andrew Hedley (AHC Racing) with 56:04. Barry Mitchell (Ards CC) finished just over two minutes behind in second place, and retained the Magreechan Cup as fastest Ards rider. Kevin Briggs (Ards CC) edged a little closer to Barry to take third – maybe next year! Club chair Dean Bradley smashed his personal best to claim fourth overall and first on handicap.

In the McFarlane Trophy (worked out based on all club 10 and 25 mile time trials on a scratch basis), Barry extended his lead and now looks uncatchable.

Thanks to the time keepers and marshalling team – hopefully it was good practice for the next round of the Inter Club League, which will be held on a similar circuit on 30 July!
