Richard takes 5 mile Handicap Trophy

A combination of holidays, work commitments and blustery conditions meant only 6 riders faced the timekeeper this evening for the final 5 mile circuit time trial of the season. After fighting a tough cross/headwind on the outward leg, riders were rewarded with a fast ride over the rollercoaster road to the finish.

Fastest on the night was James Alexander (McConvey Cycles) with 12:54. It was good to see Jamie Rockett down to take first Ards CC rider. RIchard Hanna was best on handicap, and he takes the win in the 5 mile handicap trophy.

Thanks to the marshals, timekeepers and pusher off. It’s the Scrabo hill climb next Tuesday, which is always good value for the spectators – don’t miss out!

And in other news, following the cancellation of the Champion of Champions 25, Barry Mitchell is the clear winner of this year’s McFarlane Cup (calculated on all club 10 and 25 mile time trials on a scratch basis, with a rider’s best 4 results counting).
