The club was saddened to hear of the passing of Leonora Williams (nee Fagan) last Friday. Leonora attended some of the early club meetings in the 1940s with her father, and was a regular on club runs in the 1950s. Stories of rides to the Gobbins (on Island Magee) on a steel Geordie Stone Special, 72″ fixed wheel and hard Brooks leather saddle reminded us all of the toughness of our founder members. Leonora continued to take an interest in club activities until recently, including being re-united with her “Stone Special” at a club bar-b-que in 2014.
The club sends its sympathy to the family circle. The funeral will be on Thursday 23rd January at 10am in St Patrick’s church, Newtownards.
