Tough 10 on Saltwater Brig Course

Ards CC was delighted to welcome the Cycling Ulster women’s time trial league to our club 10 mile time trial on the Saltwater Brig course this evening. It was a tough baptism on a cold and blustery evening, but hopefully everyone went home happy (and the sunset behind Scrabo was amazing!). We’d be delighted to welcome you back at any of our other events this season.

Most riders were about a minute slower that their times from last week, although AHC Racing duo Andrew Hedley and Marc Allen still both managed to break the 23 minute barrier to take first and second overall. Fastest Ards rider was Barry Mitchell, and he extends his lead in the McFarlane Cup (for all club 10 and 25 mile TTs on scratch basis). In the 10 mile Handicap Cup competition, Simon Ridings was the only rider to improve on their personal best, but Gillian Orr took third place to extend her lead in this competition.

Thanks to the marshals, pusher off, and our all-women timing crew, and to all the riders, several of whom had travelled a long way to take part. Hopefully once you warm up again, you’ll reflect on an evening with “great story value”..

There’s no club race next week, but we’re back on 29th April at Kirkistown for the first round of this year’s Inter Club League with our friends in North Down CC – more details to follow.
