Entry for this year’s Inter Club League is now open here. There will be six rounds.

ICL2025

The first event is new – to see how far you can ride in one hour, around the Kirkistown race track. The Ards CC Committee has shared the following details on how the event will work.

World Hour Record

The first round of the 2025 ICL is an attempt to break the world hour record … on the Kirkistown Circuit … on road bikes!

We’ll be impressed if Ganna’s distance of 56.792 km is broken, but more importantly, for the ICL, points and places will be awarded based on distance travelled in one hour on the night, as measured by your Garmin/Wahoo/Phone/other GPS device.

This year, we’re awarding points for the top 20 ICL places along with 10 points for participation.  This is to create more competition further down the rankings.

Rules.

  1. Only road bikes with standard equipment are permitted.  No clip-on TT bars, no disc wheels, no TT helmets.  This applies to all participants.
  2. Riders will be set off at short intervals from a standing start.  Show the timekeepers a zeroed GPS, start the timer and go.
  3. Absolutely no drafting.  The track is wide enough to avoid this, and we reserve the right to penalise offenders.
  4. Stop the timer after at least an hour of riding, return to the start, and show the timekeeper your distance and time.
  5. The distance recorded will be adjusted pro-rata for recorded times greater than an hour.  Recorded distances for times less than an hour will not be adjusted.
  6. The winner will be the person with the maximum distance.

Technical

  1. Time must be shown in hour, minutes and seconds.
  2. Distance can be recorded in km or miles.
  3. Ideally the distance should be to two decimal places, so 24.28 miles or 39.28 km for example.
